Establishment
The Slovak — Croatian Commission of Humanities at the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia was established on the basis of the Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia for the years 2018-2022, signed in Zagreb on 19 January 2018, in order to develop bilateral scientific and educational relations as well as joint action, taking into account the needs of certain areas. An important role in the development of Slovak-Croatian relations is also the creation of adequate conditions for the teaching and dissemination of the language and culture of the other country, with the emphasis on helping the Croatian national minority in the Slovak Republic and the Slovak national minority in the Republic of Croatia.
Role
The Commission’s role is to initiate and coordinate joint activities in the field of History, Art History, Linguistics, Neo-Latinist studies, Literary science, Ethnology, Archaeology and other humanities and social sciences in the field of Croatian research in the Slovak Republic and the Slovak research in the Republic of Croatia. It forms the basis for the mutual exchange of scientific information on research projects and research results in the above disciplines in both countries.
Activities
Working meetings, workshops, conferences and seminars, as well as the creation of joint research and publishing of Slovak-Croatian tasks and the support of bilateral working relations between institutions and individual experts form the Commission’s activities. To carry out specific tasks, the Commission sets up ad hoc expert groups for the identified issues or areas.
